Dr. Costrini earned his medical degree and Ph,D from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Washington University School of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident. He further completed a gastroenterology fellowship and a postdoctoral molecular biology fellowship, establishing a foundation that would define a career at the forefront of both clinical practice and research.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Costrini held numerous academic faculty appointments at Washington University in St. Louis and the Medical College of Wisconsin. He built the largest solo gastroenterology practice and endoscopy center in the South and developed one of the region’s most comprehensive Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) programs, significantly advancing patient access to specialized care. Later drawn to Colorado for its natural beauty and lifestyle, he continued his impactful work with Peak Gastroenterology, bringing decades of expertise to the communities he serves.
Dr. Costrini’s leadership and service have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Clinical Scholar’s Award from the American Gastroenterology Association, a Special Recognition Award from the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America for his role in establishing the Savannah, Georgia chapter, and an Achievement Award from the Georgia Gastroenterological and Endoscopic Society, among many other distinctions. In recognition of his lasting influence on medicine and education, an endowed professorship has been established in his honor—cementing his legacy as a clinician, scholar, and leader in gastroenterology.
